Kapchorwa, Uganda | July 28, 2025 – The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission has ordered a fresh poll to be held on July 31st, 2025.
Dr Tanga Odoi has confirmed the authenticity of a letter dated July 25th instructing the NRM District Election Officer to prepare for fresh primaries for both the District Woman MP and Constituency MP positions.
“The Commission will send a team to assist your office to execute the exercise,” reads part of the letter, signaling the party’s intention to ensure transparency and fairness in the rerun.
This move comes amid growing tension and unresolved petitions from the July 17th polls. However, with the latest directive, the fate of those petitions remains uncertain as the party appears to be opting for a reset.
Dr. Odoi has stood firm in his position, asserting that Kapchorwa will return to the Polls a decision expected to reshape the political atmosphere in the district over the next few days.
