A dark cloud hangs over Nalubanga Village in Kaptono Parish, Kaserem Sub-County, following the brutal killing of a retired education officer.

Mr. Patrick Mangusho, a former Deputy Head Teacher of Kobil Primary School, was hacked to death by unknown assailants at his home on Thursday night, leaving the entire community in deep sorrow and disbelief.

According to Sipi Region Police Spokesperson, Mr. Fredmark Chesang, the deceased was attacked and cut multiple times on the head and neck, resulting in his instant death. The motive for the attack remains unknown.

The alarm was raised by a concerned neighbor, Mr. Kenneth Sabila, who heard the victim’s screams and rushed to the scene. Unfortunately, by the time help arrived, Mr. Mangusho had already died. His body was later taken to Kapchorwa Hospital Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

Police have launched a full investigation, and are appealing to members of the public who may have information to come forward.

In response to the incident, Kapchorwa Resident District Commissioner (RDC), Mr. Martin Sakajja, called for calm but urged residents to stay vigilant, especially in the current political season, which often sees a rise in criminal activity.

“We shall intensify night patrols to curb such crimes, and I urge the public to cooperate with security personnel. A curfew is in place and will be enforced strictly. Let us all avoid unnecessary movement at night,” RDC Sakajja said.

This tragedy has shocked many across the district, especially the education fraternity, who described Mr. Mangusho as a dedicated and humble educator who served with honor.
